ALLERGY MEDICINE

People require allergy medicine to combat the body's abnormal responses to the immune system. Allergies are very common and most people suffer at least one type. Some are so mild they only cause a momentary discomfort which we ignore. Allergy symptoms can be severe, moderate or mild but they can also be life threatening. There are some natural allergy cures which may completely eliminate the need for allergy meds.

There are several types of allergy medication. There are antihistamines, nasal steroids, steroid creams, decongestants, antileukotriene and cromolyn sodium products. Some are over the counter and others are prescription only.

Over the counter allergy medications include antihistamines that control histamine which is an inflammatory chemical released by the immune system, steroids which help prevent allergic conditions that trigger nasal stuffiness, itching and runny nose. Steroid creams relive skin itching. Decongestants relieve nasal and sinus congestion. Antileukotrienes and cromolyn sodium products are sold by prescription only.

There are also some natural allergy cures which can relieve allergic symptoms with little or no side effects. The herbs which are commonly used are Astragalus, Black Cohosh, Dong Quai, Eyebright, Echinacea, Ginkgo, Goldenseal, Grape Seed Extract, Horseradish, Licorice, Nettle, Pau Darco, Rosemary and Yarrow. Always consult a health care professional before beginning an allergy regimen.
