Horseradish has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy. It has a high vitamin content and lowers fevers by increasing perspiration. It has antibacterial properties and stimulates localized circulation. Horseradish is used internally for lung and urinary infections, as well as allergies, arthritis, gout, sciatica and for general weakness.

Horseradish promotes digestion. It has been used to reduce hoarseness in the larynx.  The herb is held close to the nose in babies to clear nasal passages.

Externally horseradish is used as a poultice for infected wounds and to increase circulation. The poultice is also used to relieve rheumatism and bronchitis. It can be applied to swelling and tumors.

Horseradish root is used as a condiment and the leaves are used for salads.

Caution: The strong juice can irritate skin.
