Safflower has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy. It has diuretic properties and prevents and helps to eliminate the build up of uric and lactic acid in the body which causes gout. It alleviates fatigue and muscle cramps after exertion or exercise.

Traditionally Safflower is used treat arthritis, arteriosclerosis, chest pains, coronary disease, fever, coughs and bronchial conditions and menstrual problems. Taken hot, safflower tea produces perspiration and has thus been used for colds and related ailments. Research indicates that the flowers may reduce the likelihood of coronary artery disease and lower cholesterol levels.

Safflower has antiseptic properties.  Externally it is used to cleanse and heal skin rashes, ulcers and wounds.

CAUTION: Not recommended for pregnant women.
